Find your starting point

Take your time

There is no single right ring. The right ring is the one that fits your hand, your life, and the meaning you want it to carry. Use these guides as a starting point, then speak with our team when you are ready.

A useful order for your research

If this is your first ring purchase, begin with the engagement guide and make a shortlist of shapes and settings. Next, read the diamond guide to understand what the stone description actually tells you. Leave the wedding band discussion until you know the engagement ring’s side profile, but have it before approving the final design.

Already own your ring? The care guides explain a gentle cleaning routine, safe storage and the changes that deserve a jeweller’s attention. You can come back to these pages whenever your routine or collection changes.

Turn inspiration into a clear brief

Save a small number of reference images and write down exactly what you like in each: the slim band, rounded claws, elongated centre stone or warm metal. A collection of pictures becomes much more useful when it includes those observations.

Add your intended budget, ring size if known, and the date you need the piece. Mark which details are essential and which you are happy to explore. This helps a jeweller suggest alternatives without losing the character you want.

Read the details behind the photograph

Close-up photography can make a delicate ring look substantial. Check the band width, stone dimensions and setting height in millimetres. Ask for a side view as well as a face-on view, and compare those measurements with a ring you know.

Keep the agreed specification and quotation together. The description should distinguish the centre stone from any accent stones and explain the metal purity, sizing and applicable aftercare terms.

Your checklist

  • Start with the guide closest to your question.
  • Record dimensions as well as carat weight.
  • Keep reference images and a realistic budget together.
  • Confirm product-specific details before ordering.

Common questions

Where should I start if I know nothing about diamonds?
